Blood Tests to Improve Health
It’s well documented that “Prevention is Better than Cure” and we all know this is true.
But what can you do to reduce your future risks of Cardio-Vascular Disease (CVD), Strokes, Fractures and Cancer?
During mid-life our physical health and psychological wellbeing is affected and this is why being in the best possible health before mid-life is essential.
Primary Care services call us up to have Blood Pressure, Well Women, Well Man checks, Mammograms, Cervical Smear Testing, Stool Tests and Healthy Living Checks. These services are free and we must keep these appointments. Early detection is paramount. We know waiting times for some Primary care services can be problematic. Therefore, at Bourne2care we are rolling out more Blood Tests and 15 minute mini consultation appointments.
We are providing these for Men and Women.
Blood Tests + Mini Consultations.
Lipoprotein (a) is a capillary blood test for men and women. This simple, quick blood test assesses your genetic risks of developing heart attacks, strokes, narrowing of your arteries plus more. The (a) is the “stickiness” gene. Therefore, we can assess your future risks of CVD and give you advise on how to reduce any potential CV risks. You only need this test once.
This blood test isn’t routinely available on the NHS but I have heard UK Professors in Cardiology talk about this test for years!
The blood test is only part of this as I will assess your levels and assess your personal health risks too. With this information you can make any necessary changes you need with the help of your GP surgery.

Prostate Sensitive Antigen (PSA). Is a capillary blood test for men only. The Prostate Gland surrounds the Urethra (wee tube). A common symptom is trying to wee but having to “force” the urine out. Most men are likely to have an enlarged prostate at some point in their lives. Sometimes it’s due to inflammation, non-cancerous or cancerous changes to the Prostate Gland. It’s more common in men with coloured skin and mixed ethnicity. Testing can start at 50 years old or earlier for some men at higher risk of developing an enlarged prostate. This test is available on the NHS but at Bourne2care the mini consultation and health information we ask before we see you helps us discuss your potential risks. We always advise discussing your results with your GP surgery.
How much are these tests and what else is included?
They are £79 each and include:
Detailed health information from you to assess your risks and blood results.
Blood Tests.
15 min mini consultation via phone.
Detailed letter to your GP surgery.
Fact Sheet emailed to you, full of advice.
Explanation of your health risks and how to seek further medical advice.
To book these please go to:
